About Tigard Oregon
The City of Tigard was incorporated in 1961 has grown into a progressive modern City. It is located about 10 miles southwest of Portland, OR in Washington County. A preliminary 2008 estimates population of 47,150. Tigard takes pride in being a family oriented community. City government and school leaders, neighborhood associations, citizen groups, and business owners work together to make Tigard a wonderful community and "A Place to Call Home." A vibrant, mixed-use Urban Village is the vision of The Downtown Tigard Improvement Plan. It is a long term blueprint that will guide development in Downtown Tigard. A low tax rate lends to growth, for commercial and industrial business. The state's first commuter rail line opened February 2, 2008. TriMet
WES Commuter Rail provides weekday rush hour service between the cities of Beaverton, Tigard, Tualatin and Wilsonville.

Tigard Parks and Outdoor Activity
Over 300 acres of parks, natural areas and greenways provides a wide range of options for recreation. The City has 12 parks, 9 miles of nature trails andover 180 acres of open space. The Tualatin River is near by for water activities and fishing. Fanno Creek Park is a wonderful downtown park, located just behind Tigard City Hall. The climate is fairly mild, with average summer highs in the 80's and average winter lows in the 40's.

The Tigard-Tualatin School District contains 10 elementary schools, 3 middle schools, and 2 high schools.
